As part of the international scientific conference PASTECHL Podgorica 2025, which successfully concluded yesterday, a panel discussion was held under the title “Development of Sports for Children and Youth in Podgorica: Challenges and Opportunities for Financing.”
The panel brought together prominent representatives from the fields of sports and education, including Prof. Dr. Jovan Gardašević, Dean of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Montenegro; Dr. Novica Gardašević; Mr. Igor Tomić, President of the Paralympic Committee of Montenegro; and Prof. Dr. Edin Užičanin, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at the University of Tuzla. The panel was moderated by another professor and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Montenegro and WBSI Lab member, Prof. Dr. Stevo Popović.
During the discussion, participants analyzed key challenges and opportunities in the field of sports for children and youth, with a particular focus on the accessibility of sports programs, sustainable financing models, inclusion of children with disabilities, and the role of elite athletes and sports professionals in inspiring younger generations.
Panelists emphasized the importance of a systematic approach to sports development at the local level, continuous education of professional staff, and strengthening cooperation between academic institutions, sports clubs, and the public sector.
