Strengthening Scientific Cooperation between Montenegro and China through HSAC 2025 and the Physical Literacy Project

During a seven-day stay in China for the international conference HSAC 2025, held from October 24 to 27, 2025, and co-organized by the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports in Beijing, the host institution welcomed one of the WBSI Lab members. WBSI Lab representative Professor Stevo Popović delivered oral presentation and presented the achieved results of the bilateral project, reflected in a protocol that serves as the foundation for continued monitoring of physical literacy among children and adolescents.

Nevertheless, the main purpose of the visit was the further implementation of the bilateral project titled “National Reports on Physical Literacy of Children and Adolescents in Schools in China and Montenegro”, conducted within the Fourth Session of the Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the two countries, supported by the governments of Montenegro and the People’s Republic of China.

During the first year of the project’s implementation, research teams from Montenegro and China jointly developed a unique methodology for assessing physical literacy in the school environment — the “Physical Literacy Assessment Protocol (PLAP)”, which enables systematic monitoring of physical literacy among children and adolescents. Based on their collaborative work, a scientific paper was prepared under the title “Physical Literacy Assessment Protocol (PLAP): A Comprehensive Methodological Framework for Monitoring School-Based Physical Literacy in Children and Adolescents”, which has been submitted to the international scientific journal “Innovative Technologies in Sport and Physical Activity” (ISSN 2957-2525).

Additionally, a series of bilateral meetings were held, during which discussions included the possibilities for increased involvement of WBSI Lab member in activities aimed at the further development of the scientific journal “Intelligent Sports and Health” (ISSN 3050-5445), published by the host institution.

The continuation of cooperation during this visit represents an invaluable contribution to the development of scientific relations between Montenegro and China, confirming the commitment of the WBSI Lab member to actively participate in international research initiatives in the fields of physical literacy, education, and youth health.
