WBSI Lab was established in 2020 as an outcome of European academic cooperation (via COST Action), bringing together experts primarily from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from other Western Balkan countries. The organization builds on strong foundations in higher education, scientific research, and international project implementation.
Although a relatively young organization, WBSI Lab relies on the extensive experience of its members, who have been actively involved in numerous national and European initiatives, particularly within the Erasmus+ framework. From its inception, WBSI Lab has focused on strengthening regional cooperation and connecting the Western Balkans with European research, education, and innovation networks.
Our vision is to position the Western Balkans as an active and recognized contributor to the European sport, education, and innovation ecosystem. We aim to achieve this by promoting research excellence and innovation in sport; strengthening cooperation between academia, industry, and public institutions; supporting evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development; and enhancing inclusion, health, and participation in sport and physical activity.
Through our work, we strive to create long-term impact, foster knowledge exchange, and support the development of a modern and inclusive sport ecosystem aligned with European Union priorities.
